21 RN's from Austin and Rochester braved the post-blizzard driving conditions on December 10th to take the CEN and CFRN exams. Two months of study and review paid off as 18 of the 21 were successful in their efforts, for an 86% pass rate (national average is 76%).
You can do it too!!

Current Calls/Opportunities
Many workgroups/Committees are temporary or time-specific and do not require a year-round activity. Majority do not require meetings on a regular basis and most work can be done via email or telephone. Your chapter wants YOUR ideas and contributions! (Note: "Permanent" does not mean that you have to commit to a permanent presence on it, simply that it will remain on a year-to year basis.)
Chapter Bylaws/Procedures Creation:
(Members: Nancy Johnson, Austin; Marnie Johnson, SMH. 1-2 more volunteers needed, preferably at least one from outside of Mayo Clinic Rochester. This is a temporary, but labor-intensive workgroup that will need to meet 3-4 times between now and June.)
Governmental Affairs:
Works with Governmental Affairs Chair on legislative issues that impact Emergency Nursing and delivery of emergency medical care. Current Chair: Patricia Christofferson, SMH. 1-2 additional members needed.
Awards/Recognition/Scholarships:
Permanent committee to identify qualified candidates for national, local, and state awards. Promotes recognition and scholarship events, as well as coordinates application and award process. 2-3 members needed.
Nominations Committee:
Permanent committee to identify potential candidates to fill current and future officer and State Council Representative positions. 2-3 members needed.
Education/Certification/Professional Development:
Permanent committee which will work with certification promotion, development of educational sessions at chapter meetings, serve on annual conference committee, and identify/promote educational opportunities for the chapter. Members: Rebecca Westendorf, SMH; Marnie Johnson, SMH. 1-2 additional members needed.
Membership Recruitment and Retainment:
Coordinates group membership drives, facilitates outreach to outlying hospitals, and plans recruitment events. 2-3 members needed.
Media/Website/Publications:
Maintenence of Zumbro Valley web page, contact with local media, and publication of a quarterly chapter newsletter. 2-3 members needed. (Web site currently maintained by Marnie Johnson but she is more than willing to hand this over!)
